The causes of toothache:

Toothache occurs when the pulp chamber - the center of the tooth made up of living tissue - becomes infected and inflamed, as a result of:

• Cavities (holes in the teeth) caused by tooth decay

• A cracked tooth which may be too small to notice
• Loose or broken fillings which leave the sensitive nerves in the teeth exposed
